Air Dancer DIY Kids Halloween Costumes For $30
DIY Air Dancer Costume
Over the years we've had many customers call in and ask if we have inflatable air dancer costumes for sale. In the past we've always unfortunately had to inform people that no. However, thanks to all of our supporters from our Kickstarter, we not offer tube man costumes. However many innovative people have gone on to buy one of our standing Air Dancer products and then easily customize it themselves to make the costume they wanted. See the pictures below of one crafty customer that successfully turned 3 different size Air Dancers® into 3 amazing tube man halloween costumes for kids.
Inflatable Tube Man Costume on Right - $30:
The kid pictured on the right is wearing a modified 6ft Orange Air Dancer attachment, that cost $30. The diameter of this model of Air Dancer is 9" and the circumference is about 28", so this model only fits about a 18" waist (you don't want it to be too tight).
Inflatable Tube Man Costume on Left - $49:
The kid pictured on the right is wearing a modified 10ft Orange Air Dancer attachment, that cost $49. The diameter of this model of Air Dancer is 12" and the circumference is about 37", so this model only fits about a 27" waist (you don't want it to be too tight).
Dancing Tube Man Costume in Center - $79:
The kid pictured on the right is wearing a modified 20ft Orange Air Dancer attachment, that cost $79. The diameter of this model of Air Dancer is 18" and the circumference is about 56", so this model only fits about a 36" waist (you don't want it to be too tight).
The head is made up of the actual head of the 6ft Air Dancer. The head is cut in a rounded triangular shape about 24 inches under the mouth. This will allow for the head piece to hang down (covering the body) making it look like the costume is one single piece (body and head in one). Then a baseball hat or a bicycle helmet is used to mount the Air Dance head (with cardboard outfitted inside to keep its rounded shape) to the mounted the head can be kept in place securely. A small hole was cut in the front (under the mount artwork) for viewing holes and breathing.
The body is made up of the actual body of the Air Dancer. Most people will need the 20ft model here but many kids can fit into the 9ft and the 12ft models. The secret here is to step inside the cut air dancer (the head has already been removed about 24" below the mouth), and then put your arms through the arm holes. You're going to sew the top opening so that it can fit around and over your head, but it will be kept in place by not being able to fall below your shoulders (Like a shirt). So line it up properly so the arm holes fit your arms and the top sewn part fits properly like the neck of a t-shirt. Then once this is on, you can then cut the bottom to the correct length or just roll the bottom up and pin it in place.
